Preparing Your Home For Sale:

These are some minor steps you can take that will have a major effect on the perceived value of your home:

  • That critical first impression cannot be ignored. Take an objective look at the exterior of your property. A fresh coat of paint on the front door might be just what your home needs to add to its curb appeal.
  • Mow and trim the lawn and clean up or even refresh the landscaping.
  • Organize closets, cabinets and storage areas.
  • Clear as many surfaces as possible.
  • Neatly organize any items in view.
  • Wash all windows (inside and out); make your windows sparkle.
  • Refresh drapes and window treatments.
  • Be aware of any apparent odors caused from pets, smoking, etc.
  • Fresh flowers brighten up a room and make it smell nice.
  • Before showing your house, bake some cookies, or light scented candles.
  • Polish floors, mirrors and fixtures of kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Inspect kitchens and baths for necessary maintenance.
  • Repair grout and caulking in kitchens and baths.
  • Have your home ready to be shown every day.
  • Check for old water damage and stains.
  • Ensure that all light fixtures are working and have fresh bulbs (even in closets).
  • Open window treatments to let the light in.
  • Repair faucets and appliances.
  • Repaint walls with neutral colors.
  • Repair "sticky" locks and doors.
  • Secure/replace any loose knobs or door handles.

Discuss other ideas with your BlueFlint agent who will help to determine if the renovation will have the desired impact on your sales strategy. Remember at BlueFlint Reality it is all about you.
